1. How long will it take to receive my Union Plus Credit Card?

Once approved, you will receive your card in 7-10 days.

2. Do I have to be a resident of the U. S. to have a Union Plus Credit Card?

Only U.S. residents, over 18 are eligible to apply.

3. Who can apply for a Union Plus Mastercard?

In order to apply for a Union Plus Mastercard, you must be a current or retired union member, or an associate member of a union affiliated with the AFL-CIO and at least 18 years of age. Credit approval will be determined upon review of a current credit bureau report and other information bearing on your creditworthiness. Your union has no involvement in credit decisions.

4. Who issues the Union Plus Credit Card?

The Union Plus Mastercard is issued by HSBC Bank Nevada, N.A. and serviced by HSBC Card Services Inc., members of the HSBC Group. HSBC Bank Nevada, N.A. is one of the nation's top ten issuers of MasterCard® credit cards. HSBC Group is one of the largest banking and financial services organizations in the world.

5. Am I guaranteed to receive a Union Plus Credit Card if I apply?

No, by applying for a Union Plus Mastercard, you authorize Household Bank to obtain a current credit bureau report and to verify the information provided on your application. Approval is pending Household Bank's review of the information of your credit bureau and other information. Please be advised your union has no involvement in credit decisions.

6. Can I have more than one Union Plus Mastercard account?

Yes, if you are eligible, you may apply for a second Union Plus Credit Card. Call 1-800-622-2580 for more details.

7. Are you going to share my account information with any third parties?

We may share your information with select third party companies whose products and services we feel would benefit you as a Cardmember. 8. Is there an Annual Fee on the Union Plus Credit Card?

There is no Annual Fee for the Union Plus Mastercard, however, there is an Annual Fee for the Union Plus Secured MasterCard®.

9. Is there a PIN (personal identification number) available for the Union Plus Mastercard?

Yes. When you activate your new card, you will have the opportunity to select your PIN. Or, you may select your own PIN by calling 1-800-685-3500.

10. Can I use my Union Plus Mastercard to get cash?

Yes, you may obtain instant cash at automated teller machines (ATMs) and banks worldwide. For ATM locations call 1-800-4-CIRRUS.

11. Can I transfer balances to my Union Plus Mastercard from my other credit cards?

Yes, you may call Customer Care at 1-800-252-2619 to transfer a balance over the phone or to request balance transfer checks.

12. How will I know if my transferred balances have been processed?

You may check the current status of your account online, and you will also receive a letter of confirmation. Please continue to make payments to your other credit card accounts in accordance with these account terms, until you see the balance transfer payment show up on your other credit card billing statement(s).

13. Will my other credit card accounts close automatically when my balances are transferred?

No, if you would like to close those accounts, you must contact your other credit card issuers.

14. Can I change my address and phone number online?

Yes, you may change your address and phone number online through Online Account Access.

15. What should I do if my card is lost or stolen?

Immediately contact a Customer Care representative and report your Card's loss or theft at 1-800-651-5116. You will not be liable for fraudulent use of your Union Plus Credit Card.

16. Can I request an additional card online?

Yes, you may request an additional card online through Online Account Access.

17. Can I request a Credit Limit Increase online?

Yes, you may request a Credit Limit Increase online through Online Account Access.

18. Can I request or change a PIN online?

No, if you do not remember your PIN (personal identification number)or would like to change your PIN, please call 1-800-685-3500 to selct your own PIN.

19. Can I pay my Union Plus Mastercard bill online?

Yes. You may pay your Union Plus Mastercard bill online by logging in to Online Account Access and clicking on "Make a Payment." With our Online Bill Pay Service, your payment can be made in as little as one business day.

20. What is the difference between a PIN number and my Account Password?

Your PIN (Personal Identification Number) is a four digit number that allows you to obtain cash from an ATM. Your Account Password allows you access to your account information online. Please keep this important information in a safe place and NEVER carry your PIN number or Account Password with your credit card.

21. Is the Online Account Access secure?

Yes, you access your account in a secure environment. Our security system has the highest security standards, and supports only those browsers that incorporate Secure Socket Layer (SSL) 3.0 or higher for encryption. In addition, the account information on our site stays active only for a period of 15 minutes. The page terminates thereafter. Furthermore, your account information is stored behind a "firewall" and is in no way connected to the Internet directly.

However, when sending emails to us through the Internet, please DO NOT transmit your account number or other personal information as we cannot assure the same safeguards exist as through our web site.

24. What is the Skip Payment Privilege?

Skip Payment Privilege is a special benefit negotiated for Union Plus Cardmembers. You may skip up to two payments during a 12 month period. While your account will not go past due during a skip payment month, periodic finance charges will continue to accrue. To find out if you qualify to skip this month's payment, please call Customer Care at 1-800-622-2580. Note: Your account must be current in order to use a skip payment.

25. Will the Union Plus Mastercard help me if I am on strike?

If you are out of work due to a union-sanctioned strike or lock-out for 30 days or more, you may have four Strike Payment skip payments during a 12 month period, as long as your union membership and your Union Plus Mastercard Account are in good standing. Skip Payment Privilege and Strike Payment Protection may not be used more than 3 consecutive months before a payment is required. The Union Plus Credit Card is the only credit card that offers Strike Payment Protection. Periodic Finance charges continue to accrue, but your account does not become delinquent and your credit rating is not adversely affected. If you should ever need to take advantage of the Strike Payment Protection benefit, simply call a Customer Care representative at 1-800-622-2580.

26. When can I call Customer Care if I have a problem or question about my account?

You may call Customer Care anytime. We are open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The number is 1-800-622-2580.

27. What is the Union Plus Scholarship Program?

The Union Plus Scholarship Program is a scholarship funded by the Union Plus Mastercard Program for union members. To date, the Union Plus Scholarship Program has awarded over $1.7 million to deserving students. Applicants are selected based on academic achievement and potential, character, leadership ability, social awareness, career goals and financial need.

The Union Plus Scholarship Program is open to union members, their spouses, and dependent children. At least one year of continuous, good standing membership in a participating union is required. To qualify, applicants must be accepted by or attending an accredited university, college, community college, or recognized trade or technical school at the time of the award. Graduate students are not eligible. Union members do not need to carry the Union Plus Mastercard to qualify. Grandchildren of union members are not eligible unless the grandchild is a dependent as defined by the IRS.

You can request an application by writing your name, phone number, return address, and international union name on a post card and sending it to: Union Plus Scholarship Program, P.O. Box 34800, Washington, DC 20043-4800. Applications may also be downloaded directly from the Union Privilege web site at www.unionprivilege.org. Applications are available from September of each year through the following January. The deadline for completed applications is January 31st of each year.

28. Does the Union Plus Credit Card have Travel Accident Insurance?

The Union Plus Mastercard provides up to $100,000 of complimentary Travel Accident Insurance. The policy covers Cardmembers, their spouses, and unmarried dependent children when the full fare is purchased using the Union Plus Mastercard for travel on a licensed common carrier. The plan administrator is National Benefit Corporation.

29. What is a variable rate?

A variable rate is a rate that can change based on the Index. In the case of the Union Plus Mastercard, the Prime Rate is the Index used. We use the highest Prime Rate published in The Wall Street Journal in the month prior to the month in which the billing cycle ends.

30. Can the Prime Rate increase or decrease?

Yes, the Prime Rate may increase or decrease.

31. If the Prime Rate should increase or decrease, when does it affect my Account?

The Union Plus Mastercard uses the highest Prime Rate published in The Wall Street Journal in the month prior to the month in which the billing cycle ends. If the Prime Rate should increase or decrease, the annual percentage rate changes will take effect with the billing cycle that ends on or after the first day of the month following the Prime Rate change.

32. What qualifies as "Cash"?

"Cash" refers to cash and "cash-like" transactions against the available credit on your Union Plus Mastercard Account. There is no grace period when a cardmember obtains a Cash Advance. Finance charges on Cash Advances will accrue from the date of the transaction until it is paid in full.

33. What is a "Cash-like" transaction?

"Cash-like" transactions include:

The Union Plus Secured MasterCard® can help members establish or re-establish credit. The card is granted to approved members who make a deposit into an interest-bearing savings account. After 18 months of on-time payments, the account will be reviewed to determine if you qualify for an unsecured Union Plus Credit Card. To request an application, call 1-800-651-5108. Here are the unique benefits of the Union Plus Secured MasterCard:

Savings Account Information:

  1. The Savings Account is maintained at Intermountain Community Bank, a division of Panhandle State Bank. Withdrawals are not permitted because the savings account balance is the security deposit.
  2. Interest is credited annually on December 31 of each year to the savings account.
  3. You will receive an annual savings account statement in January after the savings account interest is posted. Intermountain Community Bank, a division of Panhandle State Bank, provides the statement.
  4. You will receive a 1099 form to report the interest earned each year to the IRS on the savings account from Intermountain Community Bank, a division of Panhandle State Bank (you will only receive this if interest earned is more than $10).
  5. The interest rate and Annual Percentage Yield may change at any time without notice just like most savings accounts.

The credit line on the Union Plus Secured MasterCard® account is equal to the savings deposit, less the yearly accrued interest. Credit Line Increases: You may request a credit line increase at any time on your Union Plus Secured MasterCard®. To do so, we require a deposit to your savings account. You must mail a check payable to Union Plus Secured MasterCard® for at least $100 and in increments of $100 to increase your credit line. Your Union Plus Credit Card number must be on the check memo line (e.g., "CLI/ACCOUNT #"). The checks are sent to Intermountain Community Bank, a division of Panhandle State Bank. Once the check has been processed, we will increase your credit line. The new credit line will appear on your statement provided there are no issues collecting the funds.
